InstaPay down: check the status first
Work through these steps before you touch the transfer again.
- Open your wallet’s service status page. Maya points you to its Service Availability Status page, and GCash shows advisories at the top of its Help Center pages.
- Open your transaction history and note whether the transfer is successful, pending or unsuccessful.
- Ask the recipient to check their balance and offline transaction history, because the amount can arrive without showing in the banking app.
- Write down the amount, the date and time, and the InstaPay reference number.
Cause: a service interruption at your sender
Your wallet or bank reports a service interruption or timeout
Your money is safe. Maya states that once the issue is resolved it returns an affected transfer to your account on the next banking day, or sends it to the recipient within 2 banking days. Do not resend during that window, and contact the wallet’s support chat only if the problem persists beyond 2 banking days.
A partner bank can also stop. One GCash help page has carried an advisory that a partner bank’s InstaPay services and QR Ph payments in the app would be back as soon as the partner restored them. The banking days that set these return windows explain how to count them.
Cause: the amount arrived but is not showing
The receiver says nothing came in, but your history shows success
Match the 6-digit InstaPay Ref No. in your Maya history against the last 6 digits of the invoice or reference number in the recipient bank’s details. Ask the recipient for a PDF copy of the bank’s transaction history, which can show transactions the banking app does not. A match means the transfer landed, and the wait is only on the app.
Cause: the transfer was refused
The transfer shows unsuccessful or never left your wallet
Maya lists four refusals: an invalid or incorrect account number, a frozen or blocked account, a dormant account, and an account that has exceeded its inflow limits. InstaPay also carries up to PHP 50,000 per transaction, so a larger amount needs another rail. Fix the detail, then send again, or use PESONet’s same-banking-day rail for a bigger sum.
InstaPay maintenance: where it gets posted
The rail does not publish a maintenance calendar in the BSP fact sheet. A stop is posted by the institution that is affected, so check the one you use.

Once an InstaPay credit lands
The BSP says InstaPay funds are credited almost immediately and with finality. That is why a resend can pay twice, and why a transfer to a wrong beneficiary must be reported to your bank or wallet as soon as you see it. If you received money and do not know where it came from, call your own bank or wallet and ask it to return the money to the sender.

- Contact the receiving bank or wallet with the amount, date and time, and InstaPay reference number.
- If you typed the wrong account, switch to the steps after a wrong send.
- Escalate to the BSP only after your provider has answered, with a BSP complaint against the bank or wallet.
