Notification spam is the stream of alerts a website sends after you tapped Allow on its prompt, and it can be removed in a few taps. This page gives the route in Chrome on Android, taken from Chrome Help, and shows how to avoid saying yes again. It belongs to the JILIWIN mobile page, which covers playing a lobby in a phone browser.

How notification spam starts

A site asks Chrome for permission to show alerts, and Chrome shows a prompt with an Allow choice. That prompt is optional on every site, a lobby included. A page works the same whether you tap Allow or leave it, so the safe default is to leave it.

  1. You open a site and a prompt asks to show notifications.
  2. You tap Allow, often by habit.
  3. The site can now send alerts without you opening the page.

Why the alerts become notification spam

Each alert comes from a site that Chrome has on its allowed list, so the sender never needs to open the page. A phone that lands several alerts an hour feels slow and noisy, which is why this page sits beside phone lag in the same group. Take this example:

  1. You open a lobby once and tap Allow by habit.
  2. Weeks later the same site still sends alerts.
  3. The fix is the block route below, not a new phone.

Stop Chrome notifications from one site

This is the quickest fix when one site is the problem. Chrome Help gives the path, and it works on any site in the list.

  1. Open the site in Chrome on your Android phone.
  2. Tap Page info, the icon to the left of the address bar.
  3. Tap Permissions. If no menu opens, the site holds only default settings and has nothing to remove.
  4. Tap Notifications and switch it away from Allow.

Stop Chrome notifications from every site

If many sites send alerts, turn the whole feature off at once. Chrome Help gives this route for Android.

  1. Open Chrome and tap More (three dots).
  2. Tap Settings, then Site settings, then Notifications.
  3. Turn the setting off at the top.

The same screen carries a “Use quieter messaging” option, which reduces how prominent the prompts look instead of blocking them.

Find the site you allowed by mistake

You do not always know which site is sending the alerts. Open Site settings from the route above and read the list under Notifications. Any site shown as allowed can be opened and changed there.

Avoid allowing it again

A short habit keeps the spam from coming back. Every one of these is optional and free.

  1. Read the prompt before you tap. If it asks to show notifications and you did not ask for alerts, tap the block or close option.
  2. Ignore the prompt on a lobby page you have only just opened.
  3. Revisit Site settings after you try a new site.

Check that the block worked

Give it a minute, then test.

  1. Open the same site again and tap Page info, then Permissions.
  2. Confirm Notifications no longer shows Allow.
  3. Watch the notification shade for a day. If the same site still appears, repeat the all-sites route above.

What blocking leaves alone

Blocking a notification permission leaves your sign-in alone. Deleting cookies and site data is a separate action, and Chrome Help says you may get signed out of sites that remember you.

  1. Keep your username and password to hand before you delete cookies.
  2. On one site, the route is Page info, then Cookies and site data, then the delete button next to the stored data.

Still seeing alerts after you block them?

Alerts that carry on after the site is blocked usually come from another browser or from a different site in the list.

  1. Check the Notifications list again and look for a second entry.
  2. Repeat the all-sites route if you cannot find it.
  3. If the page also fails to load, read the notes on why ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED appears or on the ERR_CONNECTION_RESET error.
