Cause 1: downloads and photos fill the phone
Large files are usually the cause, not the browser. A few minutes here frees more than any browser setting.
Storage full and the biggest category is files, photos or video
On Android, open Settings, tap Storage, tap Free up space, scroll to a category, tap Select files (or Browse if the category is not listed), pick the files and tap Move files to Trash. For music or video you downloaded through an app, delete them from that same app.
Cause 2: apps you no longer use
Unused apps hold space for nothing. Remove the ones you have not opened in months.
Storage full and the app list is long
On iPhone, tap an app name in iPhone Storage and choose Offload App to free space while keeping its documents and data, or delete the app. On Android, remove unused apps from the storage screen; Android Help notes you can add them back later.
Cause 3: browser cached files and site data
The lobby is a web page, so Chrome stores its images and scripts as cached files. That store grows over time, and it is the one part of this page tied directly to browsing.
