JILIWIN Payment Reference Number: Find It and Use It
A payment reference number is the code a wallet or bank gives a completed transfer so it can be traced.
| Fact | Value |
|---|---|
| JILIWIN Banking Days Explained for Peso Transfers | A banking day is a day banks are open to clear transfers, so weekends and bank holidays do not count. |
| JILIWIN BSP Complaint | Report the problem to your bank or e-wallet's own complaint channel first. |
| JILIWIN InstaPay Down | When InstaPay looks down, check your wallet's service status page first, then match the reference number and wait up to 2 banking days. |
| JILIWIN Valid ID Philippines | The BSP does not print one card list. |
| JILIWIN Wrong Send Help | After a wrong send, check whether the transfer shows as successful, pending or failed, then tell your own bank or wallet at once. |
A payment reference number is the code that identifies one completed transfer, and it is the first thing a wallet or bank asks for when you report a problem. It belongs on your receipt before you close the app. For how the rails behind it work, see the e-wallet Philippines pillar, then use the table below to find yours.
Where the payment reference number sits
| Provider | What it calls the number | Where it shows | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| GCash | Reference No. or Reference ID | On the transaction receipt | GCash Help Center |
| Maya | InstaPay Ref No., 6 digits | In your Maya transaction history | Maya help center |
| Receiving bank | Invoice Number or Reference Number | In its transaction details | Maya help center |
Each wallet’s help pages name the receipt and the history screen but not a fixed button, so open the transaction itself and read down the detail view. Screenshot it the moment the transfer completes.
Transaction reference number: the same code, other labels
A transaction reference number is not a second code. Banks write “invoice number”, wallets write “reference ID”, and some receipts print a plain “Ref No.” for the same trace code. If one label is missing, look for another on the same receipt.
Write down three things beside it:
- The amount.
- The date and time of the transfer.
- The sending and receiving account names.
Maya’s own list for a transfer that was not credited asks for amount, date and time, and the InstaPay reference number.
When someone will ask for it
Expect to quote the number in four situations.
- A transfer that has not arrived, where the receiving bank or wallet traces it. Read what to do when InstaPay is down.
- A wrong-account send, where your wallet asks for the transaction before it contacts the receiving side. The steps after a wrong send put the number first.
- A scam report, where GCash lists a screenshot of the receipt with the reference number as proof.
- A charge dispute: GCash asks for one ticket per charge, because each charge has its own Reference ID.
Wallets also set a clock. GCash asks you to report a dispute within 15 days of the transaction.
Matching the last six digits
Maya gives the clearest worked example. Your Maya history shows a 6-digit InstaPay Ref No., and the receiving bank’s invoice or reference number should end in the same six digits.
For example, if your history shows 482913, a bank number ending in 482913 is your transfer, even if the bank’s app has not listed it. Ask the recipient for a PDF copy of the bank’s transaction history, which can show entries the app hides. A match means the money arrived, and no match after 2 banking days means the receiving bank traces it with your details.
Reading a receipt in four checks
A receipt answers most questions before you contact anyone. Run these four checks the moment a transfer completes.
- The recipient name matches the person or business you meant to pay.
- The amount is exactly what you typed, with any sender fee shown apart.
- The date and time are saved, because every trace starts from them.
- The reference number is readable in your screenshot, with no cropped digits.
A receipt with all four is enough for the receiving bank or wallet to start looking. One with a cropped number can be rebuilt from your history, but that takes longer.
Getting an old number back
GCash shows the past 90 days in the app, 15 transactions at a time. For older entries, tap Request transaction history, pick a range of up to 4 years and open the emailed PDF with your last name in lowercase plus the last 4 digits of your mobile number.
Keep the receipt for transfers that matter. For the rail rules behind every number, the InstaPay rail and its reference numbers page and the casino payment methods hub cover the published terms.
FAQ
What is a payment reference number?
It is the code your wallet or bank attaches to a completed transfer. Support teams and receiving banks use it to find the exact transaction.
Where do I find the payment reference number in GCash?
It appears as the Reference No. on the transaction receipt. GCash keeps 90 days of history in the app and can email a statement for up to 4 years.
Is a transaction reference number the same thing?
In practice, yes. Wallets and banks use several labels for the same trace code, such as reference number, invoice number or reference ID.
Paano i-match ang InstaPay reference number ko sa bank?
Maya says the 6-digit InstaPay Ref No. in your history should equal the last 6 digits of the invoice or reference number at the receiving bank.
